The Quiet Light Sessions, CALLUM GLENFORD, ESSIE, JAPANESE SPORTS BRA, KATIE ARNOLD
We proudly present to you the 3rd instalment of The Quiet Light Sessions: a special, intimate evening of stripped-back music at the atmospheric West Hampstead Arts Club, perfect for a chilly Thursday night.
Four upcoming artists from the West London area will take to the stage for half an hour each, debuting new material and drawing you deep into their musical universes with an emphasis on the stories behind their songs. Come bring your friends, relax with a glass of wine, and soak up some exciting new London talent — one day you’ll be able to say ‘I was there before they were big!’
CALLUM GLENFORD
A tunesmith since he was a wee bairn, Fife-born crooner Callum Glenford alternates between piano and guitar for his ever-growing list of London gigs. Come along for the effortlessly lovely vocals, stay for the sturdily-crafted pop gems with intriguing flourishes of jazz and folk.
ESSIE
With her assertive, bluesy riffing, raw songwriting and gut-punchingly assured vocals, ESSIE will enthrall you. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to catch this powerhouse of female alt-rock in a stripped-back setting, and check out her new single ‘Limitless’ for a taste of her full-bodied signature sound.
JAPANESE SPORTS BRA
Multi-instrumentalist songwriter Tony Pigram’s kaleidoscopic new project pivots between John Martyn-esque alt-folk and fist-pumping 90s fuzz-rock, unified by witty lyricism (‘I met you in a softcore video store.’) Expect to be moved; expect to get moving; expect the unexpected. For fans of Placebo and Smashing Pumpkins.
KATIE ARNOLD
Borne on a tide of delicate fingerpicking, Katie Arnold’s crystal-smooth voice and conversational writing style gently usher you round corners of her psyche both sweet and uneasy. Occasional jazzy chord changes provide the icing on the heartache cake. A South London folk-pop icon in the making.
