PETE FIJ (EX – ADORABLE SINGER & GUITARIST)
Renowned for his unmistakable voice and wry lyrical touch, Pete Fij(alkowski) returns with fresh solo material brimming with melody and wit.
He first burst onto the scene as frontman of early 90s post shoegaze band Adorable, whose 1993 Creation Records debut Against Perfection remains a lost indie classic. The band topped indie charts and earned multiple NME ‘Single of the Week’ awards. Noel Gallagher later called dropping them a huge mistake, and artists like Slowdive and Ash have expressed admiration.
After Adorable, Pete fronted Polak and later teamed with Terry Bickers for two acclaimed albums, before a musical exile. A reset—following a breakup and time as a funeral celebrant, saw him embrace fuzzed up dream‑pop with pop and electronica twists.
Now on Tip Top Recordings, his upcoming LP Up’s The New Down (out 25 Sept 2026) follows euphoric single ‘Love’s Coming Back’, darker ‘Cuckoo’, and latest track ‘Don’t Bring Me Sunshine’. His rich baritone, compared to Lee Hazlewood and Richard Hawley, sounds more urgent and characterful than ever.
