Pocket Satellite, Nysza, Hilang Child

January 28, 2023

Pocket Satellite was born after a chance meeting at an open mic night, over a hot chocolate, on a quiet Thursday evening in Sheffield. Playing throughout the city, we started to define our style, one day discovering a precious family heirloom which transformed our music forever – an antique glockenspiel.

Hilang Child is the pseudonym of Ed Riman, a half-Welsh, half-Indonesian songwriter, recording artist and drummer raised in South London. His two albums released so far via Bella Union Records were praised by Clash Magazine, The Sun, BBC 6 Music and others for their mix of rich textural arrangements, anthemic pop hooks, soaring vocals and expressive songwriting, which moved between joyously optimistic and delicately introspective. His new music is currently nearing completion and is set to be released over the course of 2023.

With far more instruments than members, and miles of road between us, we like to capture our travels in our music and are always on the look out for new places, and fresh ears to play our music to.

NYSZA //pronounced nice-uh// is an Indian-origin artist using traditional Himalayan folk storytelling traditions, world rhythms, contemporary jazz, and poetry, to create a consciously eclectic brand of urban-world-fusion. Featuring songwriting in Hindi, Urdu, and English – this music is an earnest retelling of our collective stories.
